Welcome Week

The Chapel has a legacy of reaching students and the nations through the campus of LSU. Nearly 30,000 students will arrive on campus in the next few weeks, including 1600 from other nations. We are excited about the opportunity to welcome them as they come to LSU this fall. We are looking for 1200 Chapel adults to participate.

Welcome Week includes four opportunities to meet students and establish relationships by serving them. Our goal is to have everyone at The Chapel participate through serving or giving. Look at the ways you can be involved.

Dorm Move-In

August 16, 10 am–2 pm
Goal: 150 Chapel Adults

Nothing says welcome like an offer to help shoulder the load or to open the door. LSU will provide the t-shirts. We will provide the smiles. In addition to people who can carry boxes and bags, we need people who will open doors. We will also set up tents at two locations where volunteers can rest and cool down. We will need volunteers for these areas as well.

Student Sundays

August 20 & 27
Goal: 150 Student Survival Kits

Refuge College Ministry will welcome new students who attend church with a gift. Each survival kit will include two $15 gift cards, LSU gear and a sweet treat packed inside an insulated stainless cup. We are asking Chapel adults to purchase items for one survival kit at a total cost of $40 per kit. Specific instructions are inside the styrofoam cups that can be picked up at The Chapel.

Prayer Walk

August 20, 5:30 pm
Goal: 450 People

Bring your whole family for this special prayer walk on the LSU campus. We will be divided into five zones where we will walk and pray conversationally in smaller groups. Meet in the parking lot behind the Campus location for instructions, pizza and water. Bring wagons or strollers for the kids.

International Welcome Fair

August 26, 12-3 pm
Goal: 100 New International Students

Help us throw a welcome party for people from many nations! We will have food, games and a chance to make students from many cultures feel at home. We need adults to help meet, greet and have conversations with the many international students we pray will attend.
