Conversation Partners

Thousands of Internationals from hundreds of countries live in Baton Rouge. Hundreds of them come through The Chapel every week. They all share a big need; learning and practicing English. We are looking for people to meet with them and help them as they learn a new language. And, we will be able to meet their greatest need; experiencing the love of Jesus.

Furniture Ministry

The Furniture Ministry assists Internationals who need furniture and household items. It is an expression of giving unconditionally through the love of Christ. We accept donations of slightly used furniture and other household items and distribute them to people who need them on a first come, first served basis. Our volunteers work twice a month (usually Saturday) to pick up and deliver donated items. If you are donating furniture, please expect to wait about 2-3 weeks. If you are able to bring the item to our storage unit, we can make arrangements.

We also need volunteers who want to serve and interact with internationals, most of whom are new to Baton Rouge. If you would like to serve in the furniture ministry, please email for more information.

International Sunday Class (Campus Location - The Loft, 9 AM)

International students from around the world and Americans gather to study God's Word. Contact Alene Casemore at

The Extra Mile

We match Americans with Internationals who want to walk and talk together. We suggest walks around the LSU lakes or some other agreed upon location. There is an effort to match people with like interests or vocations, so that conversation will come easily to both parties. It is a win/win opportunity for both individuals. We all need exercise, and Internationals also improve their English conversational skills in the process. Ultimately this is about developing a relationship where the gospel of Jesus Christ can be shared because the right to be heard has been earned. May God be glorified as we walk "The Extra Mile."
